About Dark Daze
DarkDaze has grown to be one photographer and a small, varied team of talented people.
After sharpening his skills making promo videos and shooting the UK HipHop scene, DD turned to document his growing interest in Graffiti Writers before the mass media locked back in on the subculture. His seminal work "Writers One" appeared in a group exhibition alongside the legendary NYC photographer Martha Cooper. Leaving the scene when its overexposure was imminent he has since turned his work to portraiture.
Obsessive about cameras and process as much as the final image. You can book a certain style of shoot or wait and see what equipment rocks up. DD shoots, large and medium format, or on one of his 4 varying vintage polaroids or Canon digital. Entirely self taught DarkDaze now also runs studio lighting workshops for all levels of photographer, has lectured on his work at Chelsea College of Art and Design and was the studio manager for North Laine Photography producing all the retouching and prints for clients such as The Guardian's Roger Bamber, NK Swallow and Miss Aniela’s first exhibition. DarkDaze and team will be happy to shoot promos, album covers, fashion, portraits, even some gigs if we like your band etc. in fact if we like the idea or you, we will shoot it. No weddings tho, sorry...
We have built a reputation for both studio and location shots and will work stupidly hard to achieve a unique image for you. Most shoots will consist of DarkDaze and 1 assistant but we can arrange for excellent Make-Up artists, Professional Stylists and set builders. If you are an aspiring model DD may be able to shoot with you but please be aware that demand is high and time is tight.
"I think that it (the lecture) was an inspiration for some of the students and an eye opener for probably a few more"

"We like to use Darkdaze's photography in Graphotism because he manages to capture the essence of what we're about. Shooting portraits of subjects who wish to conceal their identity is often a tall order for some, but he always does it with the necessary originality and maximum impact that Graphotism has become known for."
